The Library has unique references on South African art: a collection of newspaper cuttings dating back to 1904; a comprehensive pamphlet collection from the turn of the century.Also has international journals and books. The Library is open to the public, by appointment. Library CDrom on South African art and artists 1994 - 1995 compiled by Josephine Andersen, Nozuko Mjoli and Maureen Hill; edited by Josephine Andersen. The South African National Gallery has produced the third CDROM version of the newscutting collection on South African contemporary art and artists, covering the years 1996-1998. This addition to the previous collection on CDROM and microfiche is a compilation of news articles on visual art. There are more than 4000 entries in the index which are directly linked to the relevant articles which include text and illustrations.
